The Maytan Family

Howard Maytan was a beloved member of the West Hartford Public Schools community and a friend to all who knew him. During the 2023-2024 school year, he was a third-grade student in Eric Feeney's class. Howard loved dogs and music, especially the song Baby Shark, which often echoed through the school hallways. Most important, however, was Howard's love for his family, especially his sister Eleri.

At just eight years old, Howard faced serious health challenges, spending many weeks at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. During this difficult time, friends and community members rallied to provide his family with financial support, meals, and other resources. Howard returned home just in time to celebrate his 9th birthday, which was followed by a party full of dancing and music in Mr. Feeney's classroom, where he was surrounded by classmates and friends. Tragically, we lost our dear friend Howard only a few weeks later, on April 10, 2024.

In his honor, a celebration of life was organized with the help of Friends of Feeney. Dozens of friends, family members, and teachers gathered to share stories and memories of the joy Howard brought to their lives. His legacy will continue to touch the hearts of many, and he will be deeply missed.
